Since Mr. Somerset Maugham has stated that it is now very unlikely that he will add any new short stories to the sum of his great achievement in this art, the time has clearly arrived for them to be placed before the public, complete and as a whole. They are contained in three volumes.
Mr. Maugham has himself arranged the order in which they appear in these volumes, each of which is of approximately the same length, and issued at the same price.
